New podcast(s)!
In amongst all the travelling and writing short stories in my new “Fictions etc.” bit, I overlooked sending notices about no less (actually “fewer”) than TWO new podcasts on which I was a guest. My old (in fact, younger than me) mate Sergio Angelini is a font of knowledge on all things noir, so even if you don’t want to have to listen to me, you should check out the other episodes. If, on the other hand, reading my words isn’t enough for you, you can hear my liquid (or whatever) tones, going on about the music in four neo-noir films, namely:
The Sicilian Clan (Verneuil, 1969) - music by Ennio Morricone
The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (Argento, 1970) - music by Ennio Morricone
Klute (Pakula, 1971) - music by Michael Small
Chinatown (Polanski, 1974) - music by Jerry Goldsmith
Catch it here. https://www.podbean.com/pw/pbblog-y2ix5-1279cea
After that, we celebrated David Shire’s 88th birthday, talking about an amazing run of four masterpieces in two years.
The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (Sargent, 1974)
The Conversation (Coppola, 1974)
Farewell, My Lovely (Richards, 1975)
All the President’s Men(Pakula, 1976)
That one’s here: https://www.podbean.com/pw/pbblog-y2ix5-1279cea
Happy (or whatever) listening!
